We got the chance to chat to Clodagh Higgins from Growit Group about a business methodology called Fix This Next.

Fix This Next is a Book by Mike Michalowicz who is known in the Agency Community via his book, Profit First.

He then launched a new advisory service called Fix This Next and I joined joined the advisory team (there are only 180 in the world).

During the lockdown period, I was compelled to find some new tools that I could help my agencies with.

Historically, I would go into a business and fix human resources initially but we would end upon trying to fix a lot of things, sometimes at the same time. What I have learnt now is that instead of working on multiple projects, its better to fix a small number of things create a foundation. 

I use this analogy: running a business is a lot like owning a house. I think we all know in the last few months, the more time you spend at home, the more time you want to fix or improve.

Running a business is a lot like that. There is always going to be something you would like to fix or add onto or amend and it cant get overwhelming. By working with this methodology, Mike talks a business hierarchy of needs (similar to Maslow's hierarchy of needs) which breakdown the areas of the business into the following categories:

  1. Sales
  2. Profit
  3. Order
  4. Impact
  5. Legacy

We focus on one area at a time in the right order.
